Call for abstracts 

The 16th International Disability Law Summer School will focus on Disabled Activism in an Age of Far-Right Resurgence. We are pleased to invite submissions of abstracts for presentations on our expert panel sessions alongside our invited speakers. We welcome submissions from researchers, activists, and representatives of disabled persons’ organisations, and are particularly interested in hearing from people with multiple marginalised identities. Submissions may relate to current or completed research, activist campaigns, the development or implementation of innovative or promising practices or other work which supports disability activism. Presentations should be grounded in the lived experience of disabled persons and relate to Far-Right Resurgence 

We are particularly interested in submissions on the following themes:  

  1. Using the CRPD in disability rights activism  
  2. Limits of the human rights approach and the CRPD  
  3. Race and gender in disability rights 
  4. The new era of eugenics  
  5. Disability rights in the times of COVID-19 
  6. Disability rights in times of war and conflict  
  7. Current challenges and future directions of disability rights advocacy

The word limit for abstracts is 250 words. Individuals may submit a maximum of two abstracts and for co-authored submission should clearly identify one person who will present if selected. The Summer School is delivered through English and International Sign Language. Abstracts must be submitted in English.  

You will be informed of the outcome of your application by mid-April. Please be aware that if you are accepted as a panellist, you must register to attend summer school by the 30th April 2025. The early bird rate for registration will only be available until 30 April. Accepted speakers will be responsible for their own visa, travel and other costs. 

 

A limited number of scholarships are available, closing date Tuesday 18th March 2025.
