The 15th International Disability Law Summer School will focus on Gender and Disability Justice. We are pleased to invite submissions of abstracts for presentations on our expert panel sessions alongside our invited speakers. We welcome submissions from researchers, activists, and representatives of disabled persons’ organisations, and are particularly interested in hearing from people with multiple marginalised identities. Submissions may relate to current or completed research, activist campaigns, the development or implementation of innovative or promising practices or other work which supports disability justice and gender. Presentations should be grounded in the lived experience of disabled persons and relate to both gender and disability justice.
We are particularly interested in submissions on the following themes:
- Legal Capacity
- Access to Justice
- Independent Living
- Informed Consent and the Right to Health
- Reproductive Justice
- Gender Affirming Care
- Gender-Based Violence
- Participation in Public and Political Life
- Current Challenges (e.g., climate justice, migration, conflict)
- Campaigning, Movements, Solidarity and Cross Movement Organising

The word limit for abstracts is 250 words. Individuals may submit a maximum of two abstracts and for co-authored submission should clearly identify one person who will present if selected. The Summer School is delivered through English and International Sign Language. Abstracts must be submitted in English.
You will be informed of the outcome of your application by mid-April. Please be aware that if you are accepted as a panellist, you must register to attend summer school by the 30th April 2024. The early bird rate for registration will be available until 30 April. Accepted speakers will be responsible for their own visa, travel and other costs.
