I have a Personal Assistant, do they pay a fee?

If you are attending Summer School with a Personal Assistant, there is a fee of €90 for your personal assistant. This is to cover the cost of catering.

Are there accessible materials available?

Where is Summer School taking place?

Summer School takes place at the: Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS), Newcastle Road, Dangan, National University of Ireland, Galway (The Corrib Village Entrance). Tel: +353 86 4181673. 

What is included in the fee?

The fee is for 3 days of Summer School, accommodation is not included in the fee.

Are Meals included? 

Each day there will 2 tea/coffee breaks with refreshments and also lunch will be served. 

What is the cancellation policy?

Up to 4th May (Midnight GMT)  100% refund

5th May  - 1 June - 75% Refund

From 2nd June - No Refund  

Please note: we will offer Visa related refunds, this is will be subject to a €25 admin charge.

Do I need a law degree to attend Summer School?

No prior legal training or knowledge is necessary to participate in the Summer School. The participants include persons with disabilities, their families, civil society groups of persons with disabilities as well as advocates for disability law reform, lawyers, policy makers, policy analysts and others.

How do I provide proof of student status?

Are there any scholarships available?

We will inform you when scholorship opportunities are available.

Is there parking at ILAS?
There are accessible parking spaces are available for permit (blue badge) holders outside the ILAS building and close by. Pay and display parking is also available on campus.

How do I get to Galway?

Bus: There are two buses that travel directly from Dublin airport and Dublin City to Galway. They are GoBus and Citylink.

Aircoach travels from Dublin Airport to Galway with frequent departure times. Click here to view times, prices, and book your tickets. The link is here also: https://www.aircoach.ie/ 

Citylink from Dublin Airport travels to Galway every hour and leaves the airport 15 mins after each hour). Please see attached link for times and prices. http://www.citylink.ie/timetables. To book your return tickets (recommended) click here. The link is here also: https://www.citylink.ie/

Train - There is also a train that is suitable for accessible/wheelchair journeys. It is advised you get an accessible taxi from the airport to Heuston Train Station and from there get a train to Galway. You will need to contact Heuston Station ahead of your journey to make arrangements for ramp access. Arrival in Galway:

Taxi: Take a taxi to Corrib Village located at the north end of the University campus, please see attached link. (Cost approximately €13/15).


Bus: The 404 bus leaves from Eyre Square and will bring you close to The Institute for Lifecourse and Society building where Summer School takes place. Ask the driver to drop you close the Corrib Village. 404 Bus timetable

I have been to previous Summer Schools, is the content the same?

Summer School equip participants with the insights and skills necessary to translate the generalities of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into tangible reform for persons with disabilities. The theme is different each time.
